The “Perla de Arosa” Dance School was founded in August 1988, where Mrs Elena Parada, titled dancer of the “Rey de Viana Ballet” and present Galician ballet teacher and Director in the mentioned school, begins to give ballet classes.
The first performance of this group was celebrated at the local holidays in Vilagarcía de Arousa in 1989. From this year on and because of the student body increase -150 pupils at present- the modality of classical ballet is introduced and in these classes pupils are prepared and they enter for the corresponding level examen of ballet in the Royal Academy of Dance in London. They are examinated by teachers of this academy in their own school. At the beginning examens were celebrated at “Rey de Viana” Galician Ballet School in A Coruña, and they are taking excellent results.
In November 2006 Paula Sal, pupil in this school since 1991, was incorporated as a teacher of Galician Ballet, at the same time that she was going on as a titled dancer in the “Rey de Viana” Galician Ballet. In 2009 she takes the responsibility of the classical ballet students teaching.
In its wide repertory, the classical tradition is mixed with the Galician folk dance in order to give form to an own style, faithful to the outlined one by the “Rey de Viana” Ballet.
After their first public performance, this group travelled through almost all Spain and other countries transmiting and popularizing the richiest and most representative autochthonous elements of the traditional dance joined with the forms of the cultured dancing.
In their shows the most greatfull and traditional dances live together with the new creation ones. Their colourfullness has to do a lot with a rich staging. The music selection in each choreography helps to this besides their cared and characteristic wardrobe that is useful to enhance even more the effort, work and excitement of their dancers.
